Those items that are deleted permanently are referred to as ‘hard deleted’. The Outlook users might have come across such kind of thing when they delete the emails directly instead of moving them to the deleted items folder. If there is no backup available, then it is quite impossible to access those data manually. Hard deleted emails in Outlook occur under 2 different scenarios that are discussed below:

• Pressing the Shift and Delete button at a single time which automatically deleted the emails instead of putting it to the recycle bin
• Using IMAP4 or Internet Message Access Protocol 4 client or any such clients where the mails are deleted and not moved to the deleted items folder.

In order to recover the hard deleted emails from the Outlook application using the Exchange Server account, one needs to first of all start the Windows Registry Editor. Once it gets started, then the following key must be located:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Exchange\Client\Options

In the Edit menu, you will have to give the following values:

Value Name: DumpsterAlwaysOn
Data Type: DWORD
Value Data: 1

After doing the aforesaid operation, you will have to exit the Registry Editor. Using these steps, the Recover Deleted Items would get enabled. After that you need to restart the Outlook application once again. After starting it once again, the deleted items would be displayed under the Deleted Item Recovery option on the Tool menu. Select the items that you wish to get access upon it. If the aforesaid steps do not yield any kind of result and you are unable to recover hard deleted emails in Outlook, then there is no need to worry any more.
