Resolve OST Synchronization Issue with Exchange Server!

When you connect MS Outlook with Exchange Server, MS Outlook application will not allow you to sync its off-line folder i.e. its OST file. So, if you do have some network issues with Exchange Server or if your Exchange Server is down then the off-line folder may remain unworkable by the Outlook. In most of the cases this problem can be resolved easily by restoring the file containing the backup but in case the backup is not available preferably of PST file or of EDB file, then to get the data back, third party Exchange Server Recovery software is the must.

To be specific let's consider a scenario where, you are using MS Outlook 2007 application which is configured in the cache mode with Exchange Server in order to access the off-line folder of Outlook i.e. OST file for downloading e-mails from server. But suddenly, it started reporting synchronization issue. When the issue is investigated further the below mentioned error is observed in the folder list of Outlook -

"........
Error synchronizing folder
[8004011D-526-80040115-0]
Microsoft Exchange is not available. Either
there are network problems or the Exchange computer is down for maintenance.
"

The above error suggests that the Outlook unable to synchronize with the Exchange Server because of the Exchange computer unavailability. This issue can also occur if there are some profile related issue or if any EDB or OST related issue occurs. In order to resolve this issue, you can consider these below mentioned suggestions.

  • Just wait till the Exchange Server computer gets on-line or the network problem get corrected.
  • Recreate the profile which has been affected.
  • Run the OST integrity tool to fix the OST file problem.
  • Restore OST from the backup or if any Exchange Server's EDB file has affected then you can use its backup too to restore it.

In case none of the above mentioned succeeded to resolve the issue then the only way out is to go for third party Exchange Server Recovery software and recover all EDB data in a safe and secure location which can easily be used later.
